Welcome to Smiling Miler!
I’m Jenny and I’m a cross country and track runner at a Division I university in N.C. I started this blog to share my fitness routine, recent eats and tips for living a healthy, balanced lifestyle.
I started running at 8 years old when my mom convinced me to run a Girls on the Run 5k with her. I’ll never forget my first “runners high” as I sprinted to the finish line with my mom cheering along side of me. After that, I was hooked!
My second 5k in Davidson, N.C.
Now I’m a middle distance runner, which means I run 5ks during cross country season but I also run the 1500 and 800 during spring track.

While racing is one of my passions, I love many types of exercise and frequently participate in yoga, cycling, wakeboarding and weight training. In order to gain strength and flexibility, I believe runners should incorporate other forms of exercise into their fitness routine. It also prevents injury and boredom! I love being active, but I also love spending an afternoon on the lake with a fashion magazine in my lap and a frozen marg in my hand.
When it comes to eating habits, my constant appetite has made me a lover of all foods. You’ll see a variety of meals on here such as omelets, filling salads and big plates of spaghetti. I do try and eat mindfully, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t room for a nightly bowl of ice cream or a warm chocolate chip cookie. As you can see, I’m all about that life balance!
Oh, and for all you dog lovers out there (I know there’s a TON of you), let me introduce you to my family dog, Casper. What a huuunk.
I LOVE to hear from readers! If you have questions, suggestions or just want to say hi, feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
